There is no doubt the Freshman baseball team continues to improve week to week. Today was no different taking on a quality baseball team in Clarkston. Nate Dymond got the start on the mound and continued to pitch extremely well. Early on the Tigers could find no offense as they were no hit through 3. Clarkston managed to put together 2 hits and a run in the 3rd giving them a 1-0 lead. The Tigers found a spark in the 4th. With 1 out Nick Temple hit a shot to right field to get things going. Austin Pedlar, Brad Grifka, Nate Dymond followed with singles. David Mcdermott then hit a sac fly to push another run across. Ben Chapple hit a single and then Ryan Horning hit double. The Tigers scored 5 in the 4th inning. Dymond then had a solid 4th keeping the score 5-1. In the top of the 5th Nick Temple again hit a single. Josh Maier and Lucas Shampo followed with singles of their own. Nate Dymond then hit a sac fly to bring the score to 6-1. Clarkston stormed back scoring 3 in the 5th. Eli Henderson came in the close the game in the 6th. The Tigers made some critical errors in the 6th giving Clarkston an unearned run. One error the TIgers made was followed by a great play at the plate to prevent the tying run. Henderson had a 1,2,3 bottom of the 7th to get the save assisting the Tigers to a 6-5 win.
Dymond got the win tossing 5 innings striking out 5 and only allowing 4 hits. Henderson got the save throwing 2 innings allowing 1 hit. Offensively the Tigers had 10 hits, Nick Temple was 2-4 scoring 2 runs. Seth Logan was 1-2 with 2 walks. Brad Grifka, Nate Dymond and Ben Chapple were all 1-2 with 1 RBI and 1 Run. Josh Maier, Lucas Shampo, and Ryan Horning each had 1 hit.
