Fenton Tigers Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 3-1 loss to Bay City Western on Saturday. Bay City Western took the lead on a single in the first inning.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Bay City Western pitchers struck out nine, while Fenton Tigers Varsity sat down one.
Bay City Western opened up scoring in the first inning, when Garrett Sheridan singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Sheridan pitched Bay City Western to victory. He went five innings, allowing one run on zero hits, striking out six and walking one. Nick Dardas threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Dardas recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Bay City Western.
Ryan Adams took the loss for Fenton Tigers Varsity. He allowed five hits and two runs over six innings, striking out one.
Evan Schlatter went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Bay City Western in hits.
