Chad Logan, a PE Teacher at FHS has been hired as he new Varsity boys’ basketball coach and will oversee the entire boys’ basketball program for FAPS. Coach Logan has an extensive coaching and playing resume to his credit. He has 18 years of combined varsity coaching experience in the sports of baseball and basketball. His teaching career began at Montrose HS, where Logan coached three years of Varsity basketball and one year of Varsity baseball. Since joining the staff at FHS, he has predominately coached baseball, with 14 years as the skipper for the Fenton Tigers, but has also coached cross country, tennis, and subvarsity basketball. Additionally he spent one year as the head coach of the Varsity basketball team at Farmington Hills Harrison.
Prior to joining the teaching profession, Logan played basketball at Hillsdale College. Logan, a walk-on, played four years and became one of the squads most prolific shooters. He still remains in the Hillsdale record books in their Top 10 for free throw shooting percentage and 3-point shooting percentage.
Coach Logan is eager to get started with the boys in the basketball program and looks forward to a productive summer as they set the groundwork for a successful 2018-19 campaign. Coach Logan will be communicating with returning and newly interested players for next season very soon, and plans to keep the summer program very similar to what was was originally planned by Coach Gilbert and the staff previously to Gilbert’s resignation.
